Cragganmore 29 scotch whisky is a scotch whisky from Scotland. Cragganmore Distillery is on the official Malt Whisky Trailin Scotland which covers eight Speyside distilleries and home to one of the most complex malt whisky of the revered Speyside region. Since 1869, the year in which John Smith founded the distillery at the foot of Craggan Mor Hill, only pure spring water flowing over hard greenstone rock has been used in the distinctive Speyside malt. The site was chosen by Smith both for its proximity to the waters of the Craggan burn and because it was close to the Strathspey Railway. Smith was an experienced distiller, having already been manager of the Macallan, Glenlivet, Glenfarclas and Wishaw distilleries. The distinctive, rather austere style of Cragganmore Single Malt Whisky is pleasing with the taste of excellence imparted through 29 years of maturing. The perfect after dinner malt with a good firm body, malty smoky finish and an individual and distinguished personality.
Tasting Notes
This whisky has a speyside single malt scotch style. Its color is shimmering gold and its aroma is very complex, with a potpourri of spicy, herbal notes. The palate is similar to its aroma, nicely balanced and evolving. It has a lingering and spicy finish. Cragganmore 29 year old scotch whisky is a beautifully complex dram in its own right. The extra aging and strength add body, fullness, and depth without dominating.
